Madeira Botanical art work in London exhibition
An anona painted by the artict Angie Martinussen a follower of this blog and contributor who resides in Madeira. This work and others of the artist will be displayed at the Society of Botanical Artists Annual London Open Exhibition in London between Friday 8 April and Sunday 17 April 2011.

Porto, unbeaten in the Portuguese Premier League and eight points ahead of Benfica, were a shadow of the team that had thrashed their Lisbon rivals 5-0 on their last visit in November and failed to pose any consistent danger. They missed their prolific Colombian striker Radamel Falcao, who was out injured, and could not break down a well-organised Benfica defence even after Coentrao was dismissed for a second booking on 59 minutes.”
The second leg will be played in Lisbon on April 19.

“Luís André de Pina Cabral de Villas-Boas (born 17 October 1977 in Porto) is a Portuguese football manager currently managing FC Porto.
He is regarded as unique in the sense that he has no football playing experience, became a coach of a major club with very little head coaching experience, and achieved this role at a very young age.
He is currently the youngest football manager in the Portuguese league.”

The Art Deco exhibition at Casa das Mudas above Calheta Marina has more than 300 pieces of furniture, paintings, statues, ceramics, glass and silverware and other decorative objects from some of the most famous Art Deco decorators like Lalique, Brandt, Perzel, Leleu, Porteneuve and Ruhlmann.
Ruhlmann was the creator of the dining room in the Casa de Serralves in Porto, one of the finest examples of Art Deco architecture in Portugal.“Casa de Serralves is a house and museum located in Parque de Serralves in Porto, Portugal.
Owned by the Serralves Foundation, the house was built by the second Conde de Prado, Carlos Alberto Cabral and designed by the architect José Marques da Silva. It is a unique example of Streamline Moderne architecture in Portugal.
Completed in 1940, Casa de Serralves welcomed presentations made by the Foundation between 1989 and 1999. In 1996, Casa de Serralves was classified as a building of public interest due to its architectural interest. Today the house is part of the the Museu Serralves.”
